Not by being a polished version of yourself but by letting her witness a mother who embraces her full humanness. 

Who apologises when she’s wrong.

Who rests without guilt.

Who says no without explanation.

Who honours her body instead of fighting it.

Who knows that pleasure isn’t shameful.

Who treats her womb as sacred.

Who allows all her emotion. 

Our daughters learn far more from what we embody than what we tell them and they inherit the relationship we have with ourselves.

They watch how we speak about our bodies, they notice whether we constantly put ourselves last, they absorb whether we abandon our own needs to keep everyone else comfortable, they see if we believe that our voice matters and they learn whether being a woman means self-sacrifice or self-devotion.

I am the first woman who shows her how to love herself in a world that will tell her, over and over again that she’s not enough.

Until she becomes her own, I am her reference point.

So I do this work for me, 

For my inner girl who deserved to witness it.

For my children who are watching it.

For the women that couldn’t show me. 

For the women who will come long after I’m gone.

Every woman who comes home to herself changes what becomes possible for the next.

This is how we change the story,
